Ibrake failure! hydraulic module assy failure was driving the vehicle and during the drive, my brake all of a sudden became soft and required me to push all the way to the floor to stop the car. I believe it's referred to as spongy brakes. I took the car to an independent mechanic shop and they diagnosed a faulty hydraulic module assembly. I also called the dealer and they mentioned there was a recall on the brake fluid due to its potential to cause corrosion in the brake system. The dealer is now quoting me ~$3,400 to repair and replace the hydraulic module assy. Wow!! I called Hyundai usa and they said since the car was out of warranty they would not cover the repair, I informed them of the recall on fluid and they said it does not cover the parts that were damaged by the bad fluid. This is unfair and excessive behavior on the part Hyundai. Clearly they recognized the fluid was damaging brake components but are unwilling to cover related repairs. The brakes on this car are an accident waiting to happening since the brakes are failing. I would not buy another Hyundai vehicle knowing they won't cover critical safety components. Others have voiced the same issue with no support from Hyundai.

My car at 58000 miles whenever I brake on slippery surface where ABS is activated my brake pedal goes nearly down to floor. And continuous for days going down nearly to floor on normal braking before brake pedal comes back up to normal level again. This has happened now every time ABS is activated. Dealer wants nearly $3000. To replace the ABS.

Brakes are very mushy. Often going to floor without stopping. Have to pump brakes to stop. Dealer says the hec unit needs to be replaced (part is $3500). This 2011 Hyundai Genesis was built in during time frame of earlier recall because Hyundai was using corrosive brake fluid. Earlier models were recalled but mine was not" why" now that 6 years have passed, the corrosive brake fluid is now causing later models to fail. All models built during the time frame in which corrosive brake fluid was used should be recalled and mfg should be responsible for replacement of the hec unit... not just the brake fluid. All questionable vehicles should have been recalled in the first recall.

After a brake job, I took the car back to say that the pedal was going to the floor. I was told I had a leak in the master cylinder. Got that repaired. After having the master cylinder repaired, I am now being told I have to replace the hydraulic electronic control unit (ABS, hecu). Did some research, and saw that this was a recall issue for 48,000 Genesis between the years of 2008 and 2012. Issue seems to be caused by brake fluid corrosion. My car was not part of the recall. I reported the initial issue at 64,000 miles. Car is now at 80,000. It has been sitting at the dealership because it had an engine replaced covered under warranty.

While the automobile is in motion the brake pedal is mushy to the point that it almost reaches dead bottom before engaging the brakes. This happens both on the highway and on the street no matter the speed. Repair shop states that its the ABS hydraulic module is defective. Hyundai dealer states that it is for the fluid recall. It is not fixing the brakes.
