problem #2

Santa Fe V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 9,100 miles

When the car is running and you tilt the steering wheel the horn blows. Service Dept first said they all Santa Fe's did that, next they said because the way the airbag was situated it caused it and it couldn't be fixed. Now they are saying my husband is abusive to the steering wheel & tilts it too hard. We have never had a problem with any other car and when I did it, carefully, it did the same thing. If the car is that fragile it can't be that safe. We are worried that if the airbag isn't in right, it might not work right if we need it. By the way the last two cars we traded were to this dealership and they both were in mint condition. In fact the 2002 Grand Am never got to the lot, because someone from the dealership wanted it. Does that sound like we abuse our vehicles?

When the car is running and the steering wheel is tilted the horn blows. Service dept told us the first time that all Santa Fe's did that. NOT TRUE! Second time they said it was caused by the way the airbag was installed and it couldn't be fixed. This last time they said it's because my husband abused the steering wheel it and tilted it too hard. I talked to 2 other dealers and they said the other ones did not do that & it should be fixed. I tilted it carefully and it still did it. If it's that fragile, what happens if we are in an accident? Will the airbag work properly? We have never had this problem with any other car. In fact our last two vehicles were traded to the same dealer and were in mint condition. The last one a 2002 Grand Am never made it to the lot, because someone from the dealership bought it. Does that sound like we are abusive to a vehicle? It is just annoying if you are in traffic and the horn blows. People get upset. Our main concern is we want to be guaranteed the airbag works properly, that is one of the main reason we got this vehicle was because of all the airbags. I would like to know if others have this problem.
