problem #2

Dec 012020

Santa Fe

  • Automatic transmission
  • 65,000 miles

The steering has a lot of play. The problem is a STEERING COLUMN FLEXIBLE COUPLER that has worn out and needs to be replaced. This should be a recall problem since it can cause steering maneuverability problems but it has not been placed on the recall list. There is a lot of noise in the steering when driving over uneven pavement and as the steering wheel is turned side to side.

A warranty extension is available for the same issue on other models but not the Santa Fe.

Santa Fe 2.0L Turbo

Steering link developed slop and started to make a slight clunk noise when hitting bumps or turning the wheel side to side. Replaced under warranty after dealer inspected and ordered the part.
