Santa Fe Turbo

  • Automatic transmission
  • 45,000 miles

My Hyundai Santa Fe died 4 times while I was driving on the highway and now has done that with my husband as well city driving. I've taken it to the dealer (extended warranty) and the dealer can't find anything wrong. Apparently, because the engine dies and everything goes off, there are no warning lights of computer details. This is not a good problem to have - especially on a car with only 45,000 miles. Yet the dealer can't find anything wrong.

Not sure how to proceed from here as clearly there is something wrong.

Santa Fe Sport 2.4L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 66,605 miles

My son was driving the car and engine stopped working (shut down) while trying to get off the ramp on 495 in New Jersey. Tried to restart but it was "dead". Towed to friends garage for the night (instead of the high-way). Next day Hyundai Assurance towed it to the dealer and they in turn are waiting for a mechanic (that is taking a lot of days off apparently) to take it out and photograph it to send to main office for review.

In the meantime we are using LIFT - UBER to get around for work or taking my son to school. No rental will be approved until we hear back from dealer.

Good luck.... The service advisor was saying that Hyundai is cutting corners utilizing soft metals for bearings and they have a lot of these happening with Santa Fe and Sonata cars... WHAT!??

Now I better get my engine replaced! My oil change history is every 5K-7K mile I replace with: Mobil1-5W20 and Royal Purple 10-2808 synthetic filter. Since engine oil change #2 4K miles, free from Dealer using regular (conventional) Penzoil brand filter. What warranties me the new engine are they offering? 10-100,000 mile warranty on the new engine.
