It started with 1 crack. It's now cracked in 5 places with some cracks 12 inches long. I am afraid airbag will go off at any time. I cannot afford to fix but it will not get good trade in value. There needs to be recall for this problem. This is my second Hyundai and I will not buy another one.

Sonata Limited

Dashboard started cracking in February 2019, but it's ballooned to now over 9 different cracks and continues to get worse. Dealership was useless in that they said it's not covered under warranty (or extended warranty) and no recalls are available. It looks terrible but the thought of spending $2500+ to have it replaced is ridiculous. Our only option is to purchase a cover, but this will do nothing for the value of the car at the time of resale.

dashboard cracking dashboard cracking dashboard cracking

Defective dashboard at the beginning I was thinking looks like a scratch that could happen when I sent to car wash company. After a year or so, one the first crash became longer and then I realized that were a crack, because of traveling. I complain only after a year on June or July 2020 in North Carolina, but they swore that wasn’t a warranty issue. No matter that it is danger that cracks, pose especially the front airbags driver and passenger, and also causing a loss of value of the vehicle.

Again the cracks interfere with the deployment of BOTH FRONT AIRBAGS in a crash splinter AND COULD INJURE BADLY OCCUPANTS.

Dash Cracked. Car has been garage kept, looks new. Two cracks developed over passenger side airbag. Called Hyundai, cost is $2000 to fix it. Not covered under warranty, even though I purchased extended warranty. Hyundai is a piece of junk. Don't ever buy one.

My 2011 Sonata GLS has been an awful car. More recalls than I can remember. The paint started chipping off so had to have it painted. The engine died and my wife almost wrecked trying to get it off the road, and had to get the new engine put in. Now the dashboard is cracking all over the dash for no reason. Took it to the local Hyundai dealership and they just looked and said, yeah, sometimes dashboards crack. These are not normal cracks that you would see on an old dashboard that has been out in the sun for years. Overall, an awful car and I would recommend against anyone buying one. This will certainly be my last Hyundai.
