BEGINNING IN AUGUST' 2015 AFTER HAVING MY CAR FOR 4 MONTHS. I WOULD GO OUT TO START MY CAR AND IT WOULDN'T START, REQUIRING ME TO HAVE TO GET A JUMP FROM SOMEONE. THE CAR WOULD GO A MONTH RUNNING AND STARTING UP FINE AND THEN OUT THE BLUE ONE DAY IT WOULDN'T START. ONE DAY I WAS VACUUMING OUT MY CAR WITH A POWER CAR VACUUM AND BATTERY WENT DEAD. I HAD A NEIGHBOR JUMP THE CAR AND IT STARTED. ANOTHER MONTH WENT BY AND I WAS AT THE GROCERY STORE, CAME OUT THE STORE AND CAR WOULDN'T START. I JUST RECENTLY PURCHASED ANOTHER BATTERY TO SEE IF THAT HAS ANYTHING TO DO WITH THE CAR ISSUE. I ASSUMED THE PARTS UNDER THE HOOD WOULD BE FAIRLY NEW AND IN GOOD CONDITION SINCE I BOUGHT IT WITH 40,000MILES ON IT...THIS CAR IS A PAIN IN MY ASS AND I WILL NEVER PURCHASE ANOTHER HYUNDAI

I went to O'reilly auto parts and came out and the car would not start. Had to get it towed to the dealership. They said it was a relay switch.

Sonata GLS V6

  • Automatic transmission

Sonata SE 2.0t

  • Automatic transmission
  • 48,000 miles

Car started normally and then when shifting into reverse did not register either on instrument cluster or shift handle that it was in reverse, backup camera also did not come on. Shut off the car and tried to restart it, but the car would not start and now the instrument cluster shift indicator was blank. Made several attempts to restart the car including holding the start button for 30 seconds to no avail.

Had the car towed to the dealer, and they were able to restart the car. However they have since experienced the same problem and despite having replaced the most common cause of this problem (brake switch sensor) are still intermittently experiencing the issue.

Update from Jul 15, 2015: After 4 days at the dealer got the car back. They tried several different troubleshooting measures and in the process fixed the problem. The best guess they had was a loose instrument cluster connector. Have not had the problem since.
