I was headed to pick up the kids to take them to practice, but when they went to open the trunk to put their sports gear in it, it was "stuck". It had worked the previous night so I was very confused. After several tries, we finally got it to open and shut. We then went to the park to kill time and I went to open the trunk again, it wouldn't open. We tried everything, and after 30 minutes, it decided to open. However, it then would not shut. We couldn't leave the park with it open so had to have help come and strap it closed. The kids missed their practices and I was alone in a parking lot with two kids until help could arrive.

My trunk latch malfunctioned and my trunk will no longer close. I brought my vehicle to the Hyundai dealership and they advised me the latch has indeed failed there was nothing they could do to fix it, as the recall is still marked "incomplete" and they have no parts to fix the trunk latch. I am unable to drive my car with the trunk open, as it makes me unable to see out of the back window.

Trunk latch failed. Trunk would not open, even when used emergency trunk release. Eventually, latch broke and trunk would not close. Two potential safety issues: 1. Emergency trunk release would not work, negating ability for someone trapped in trunk to open it; 2. Exhaust fumes entering cabin through open trunk.

The trunk will not open by any means, the button inside, the key fob, the mechanical key, the smart trunk open feature. Mine is the Hybrid and does not have fold down back seats. So there is no way to open it from inside or outside only via the inside of the trunk. It just has 28,045 miles. I called the dealer Bob King Hyundai and they did not know if it is under warranty and it will cost $130 just to look at it?

The trunk will not open by any means and the emergency release does not work. If anyone gets in the trunk, they cannot get out especially with the Hybrids which do not have fold down back seats Federal mandate states the trunk must have an operational emergency release, but with the trunk latch issue, the emergency release does NOT work
