problem #2

Sonata SE 4 cyl

  • Automatic transmission
  • 51,683 miles

At this moment the only problem that I had with this car is that I can not open the trunk by any way, and I'm afraid to use it because if I have a flat tire on the road, there is no way to get to my spare tire.

problem #1

Aug 052018

Sonata Limited/sport 2.4L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 18,236 miles

Trunk lid stuck shut because of faulty latch/lock. Had just gone shopping and place frozen and dairy in cooler bag in trunk... was unable to open trunk when I returned home......plus fold down seat to access truck only opens from......you guessed it....the trunk. We finally put cloth wrapped screwdriver in and popped trunk open. Alas, now unable to close trunk. Live in Florida and there are showers and severe thunder storms every day, so taking this car out of garage into these condition is not a great idea. So I am unable to use my car until Monday when the dealer is open and rope down trunk to get there and hope the trunk does not get soaked. I have done some research and this seems to be a recurring problem with 2017 Sonatas. I asked dealer what happens if we are on a trip hundreds of miles from anywhere and this happens again........he did not have an answer. I asked because if the mechanism is faulty and use same part to replace it.........are they all faulty and could this happen again???? Hope this doesn’t happen to anyone else.
