The contact owns a 2018 Hyundai Sonata. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the brake pedal would depress to the floorboard as a maintenance warning message would appear on the instrument panel. The vehicle was taken to a dealer; however, the dealer was unable to diagnose a failure. One day while driving the vehicle, an abnormal, tapping noise began to emit from the brake pedal upon depression. As the failure persisted, the pedal failed as the contact ran through both a concrete post and a fence, which were both damaged. The airbags deployed upon impact. The contact did not seek medical attention at the scene although she stated that she suffered bruising all over her body. A police report was filed. The vehicle was driven back to her house by a neighbor. The dealer and the manufacturer were notified of the failure. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 30,000.
