Tiburon 4-cyl

  • 27,337 miles
The contact owns a 2007 Hyundai Tiburon. While driving approximately 25 mph on normal road conditions, the contact proceeded onto a ramp. Suddenly, the passenger side air bag deployed without an impact. The inadvertent air bag deployment caused the driver to sway onto the curb. Immediately, the rear passenger side tire blew out. There were no warning indicators illuminated on the instrument panel. The driver replaced the tire with a spare and the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer for diagnostic testing. The technician was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The vehicle has not been repaired. The failure and current mileages were 27,337. Updated 04/16/09.

Tiburon

  • 25,000 miles
My son had a accident in a 2007 Hyundai Tiburon. He hit a pole going approx. 40 mph. He bent both frame rails and did major front end damage to the car. On impact his air bag did not deploy. The car is currently in the body shop waiting on the insurance company. Hyundai told us both front sensors must be hit to deploy airbag. The frame is bent and that wasn't enough to deploy the airbags. I have been reading on the internet that many Hyundai vehicles have been in severe accidents and the airbags didn't deploy. I would just like it to be known that Hyundai vehicles are very unsafe. Luckily he wasn't severely hurt just back pain but it could of been alot worse. My son is very lucky he wasn't hurt worse and after reading all the trouble with Hyundai airbags I am wandering why something hasn't been done to help correct the airbag issue since there have been many complaints on the internet. Hyundai evidentially doesn't want to take responsibility for this problem, the only thing we were told was that the only way the airbags will go off is if 2 sensors are hit. Well he took out the drivers side front end of the car and I can not understand how they consider this a safe car.
