The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, there was a knocking sound, and the vehicle lost motive power. An unknown warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and diagnosed that the engine needed to be replaced due to sludge build-up. The dealer requested the vehicle oil change history. The vehicle was not repaired and remained at the dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was opened. The manufacturer denied the engine replacement due to sludge in the engine from neglect. The failure mileage was approximately 123,000. The VIN was unavailable.

The vehicle was towed to an authorized dealer but the failure could not be duplicated. The manufacturer sent out a district manager to inspect the vehicle but could not find the cause for failure. The vehicle had not been repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 600.
