The contact owns a 2001 Hyundai XG300. The contact stated the check engine light remained illuminated on the warning panel and despite the fact that routine oil changes were performed on the vehicle, the light would not shut off. The dealer was unable to provide a reason as to why the check engine light was illuminated. There were no repairs made to the vehicle. The VIN was not available. The failure mileage was 70,000 and the current mileage was 79,000.

I have ongoing problems with my car since after purchase in 2007. Hyundai case #3479162 check engine light was going on and staying on unless the battery would die. Failed emissions said to be caused by air sensors but codes kept getting whipped out.car has been to dealer countless times! car lunges thrashing motion while at a stop or driving. The air bag light stays on at all times, the first time the lunging happened I thought I was out of gas, with the exception of the violent thrashing that occured/S. my cars control panel, headlights and interior lights dim, shut off at will. All radio & control panel lights come on and go off at any time. The radio starts changing from fm to am to cd at any given time including while the car is turned off and unattended. The tail lights, brake lights and running lights also turn on/off by themselves whether driving the car or if the car is sitting in my driveway. I have to get my car jumped every time I go to start it.it wasn't until earlier this year that a neighbor came to let me know that I left my lights on in the middle of the night. I knew nobody had been in my car because I was recovering from a major surgery and my car keys are always with me. This incident with the neighbor shed light on part of the problem. Now I know why my battery is constantly dead. I just don't know why the car is turning on it's electrical components. The ongoing problem with the battery drain has caused the codes for the car to keep being erased so there is no way to diagnose cause for the check engine /air bag light coming on. It's frightening that the lights go on or off, day or night, without cause. This is very dangerous while night driving! the stalling out while driving causes complete loss of the steering/brakescontrols and all power. I am terrified of hwy driving now! I could cause an accident that may kill me or someone else!the thrashing and lunging of the car scares me. The electrical is going on at least 8X day/night. This car is dangerous!

I have specific problems similar to complaint ODI id number : 10165481. 1. my brakes would vibrate terribly when going down hill. This happened after about 10000 miles on the care I replaced them with ceramic pads and resurfaced the rotors this largely fixed the problem. 2. radio has a short that causes radio to go on and off intermittently. If a cd is put in the cd player and left there while radio is in use, the radio works fine. Mileage was approximately 63000 3. engine began making clacking noise about 8 months ago. Didn't do anything about the clacking noise yet. Mileage was approximately 65000 4. gas cap door popped open while driving then when parked and vehicle turned off door release mechanism will automatically activate continuously until the battery runs down. Unplugged door switch at door and use manual release in trunk. Mileage was approximately 65000 not resolved 5. had similar problem to 10099943 care just died while driving, could here electrical arcing when trying to restart. Was towed 300 miles to have fixed mileage was approximately 15000 this issue was resolved at the dealer.

The speedometer just stopped working. It stopped working on August 31, 2005. The consumer contacted the dealer and was told it would cost $500 to $700 to fix. The dealer said it was extremely rare, thought it could be a sensor or something electrical. The consumer believed the odometer has an internal short.

Multiple failures with 2001 Hyundai, XG300. The radio would come on while the vehicle was turned off and would frequently come on and come off by itself when the vehicle was running, the battery went dead twice, no dealer do repairs. Gasoline indicator did not work properly, a new fuse had to be put in the cigarette lighter. The consumers son was driving the vehicle on the highway when it just died.

Car was towed 3 times in 2002, October and twice in December, to dealership for sensor failures and car stalled out at 50 mph on major roadway. I was almost hit by a dumptruck behind me, I was able to barely coast into a side street. Electronic control module failed and was fixed. Car was in for repairs 7 times in the 2 years I owned it. I traded in this "top of the line Hyundai" for a Buick regal that I love. One of the car salesman told me to never buy a car in the first year it is manufactured. Nobody told me this as I drove off the lot in my brand new 2001 car. I was inconvencied by this continous problem of repairs, as my occupation as a nurse is necessary for a safe and reliable vehicle. I will never buy a Hyundai again and friends and family are aware of the numerous problems I've had.

Check engine light came on and almost cut-off. Took it in to the dealer and the problem is major (electronic transmitter (valves) spark plug wires). Previously I've had two recalls. I need some additional information regarding Hyundai cars. Very inconveniencing.
