XG350

On two separate occurances my 05 Hyundai XG350, when in city traffic at approx 35mph, failed to drop engine RPM when the brakes were applied during a traffic light stop. To stop the car, I had to shift the car to neutral. The engine raced then immediately droped to an idle. This easily could have resulted in an incident had I not shifted to neutral. Local dealer advised that all was ok - no problems!

XG350 6-cyl

  • Automatic transmission
  • 4,000 miles
: the contact stated while applying pressure to the accelerator pedal, the vehicle slowly responds. The vehicle speed was not adequate with the amount of pressure applied. This problem was intermittent in nature. Although the vehicle was seen by a dealer, the dealer was unable to duplicate the problem. Updated 02/28/06.

Vehicle lurches forward with the slightest pressure applied to the accelerator pedal, or, at other times, will not respond to accelerator position. These two opposite and extreme conditions happen intermittently but with enough frequency that anyone that I have allowed drive the vehicle (except the service tech!) has experienced the problem. This is not just an irritating problem but a serious safety issue. It is almost impossible to safely enter a roadway with any amount of control of the vehicle speed when either of these problems occur. Either the car lurches ahead so violently that control is impossible or in direct contrast, creeps along so slowly that the car becomes a road hazard, three days ago I was almost struck by a snowplow due to the latter problem!.
