QX50 Luxe Awd 2.0L Turbo

  • Automatic transmission
  • 9,100 miles

We purchased this Pre-owned certified QX50 on Friday May 24, 2019 from Holman Infiniti.

The next day we noticed the engine made a loud whining noise, there was a rattle coming from the panoramic moon roof, a small chip in the front wind shield and the drivers lumbar seat button was missing.

I reviewed the certified paperwork to see if any of these issues were noted on the inspection form and they were not but also noted that they stated the heated seats were functioning but we do not have heated sets and if the inspection was done correctly then they would have noticed the lumbar button was missing.

I made an appointment to have the car looked at they issued me a loaner car while it was being worked on.

The sales department explained they would be covering the window chip repair but service is needed to order a new front seat as the lumbar switch was not working and it would take about 4 days to arrive. They also would have another certified inspection report done on the car. They explained the roof noise was corrected and the engine noise was normal but when our service advisor, Veronica Varalli, rode in the car she heard the engine noise and had them look at it again, so they reprogrammed the engine computer and said the noise was gone.

I picked up the car on a Friday afternoon and as I was driving away the roof made the same rattling sound and also the engine noise was still present so I call Veronica back and had set another appointment for Monday and she would have me drive another QX50 while I was there to see if this car had the same issues and also would have the service foreman drive with me.

In the QX50 loaner the engine noise was present but I realized the car was in first gear and when I corrected it to drive the engine noise disappeared but the panoramic roof had the same rattle.

So we jumped in my QX50 and the engine made the whining noise no matter what gear it was in and the roof was rattling. The foreman heard both and said he would look into it.

I received a phone call that Holman contacted Infiniti and had them listen to the engine sound and Infiniti immediately said they were going to install a new engine in the car and would have it shipped to the dealer. Also new roof rail parts were to be delivered to fix the rattle sound. I received another call from Luis the service manager that the wrong roof parts were sent and they needed to order a complete new panoramic glass roof assembly and these were on back order as many other QX50 cars have the same panoramic roof noise.

In order to resolve this horrible client experience we wish for Infiniti to issue a buy back on this car (I was told at the dealership Infiniti is really good at doing this) so we do not need to pursue the Lemon Law and have unwanted stress heaped upon us and have Infiniti correct a serious wrong and we can have another QX50 sold to us or we can pursue other cars.
