When the brakes were applied vehicle continued to roll. Driver had to hit the side of the curb to stop. Mechanic replaced the anti lock brake sensor. Also, in June of 2003 engine was replaced because the timing belt came off and destroyed the engine.

Consumer received a safety improvement campaign letter from the manufacturer for the ABS coil integrated module replacement 021-002 notice. Repair was done at 83,383 miles, and the parts were under warranty for twelve months or 12,000 miles. Currently, vehicle at 100,000 miles experienced the same ABS problems.

Recall 021002000 concerning ABS/coil module replacement: While driving at 25 mph, consumer came upon a stop light and applied the brakes. Vehicle did not stop until it was across the intersection. The consumer was still having the problems stemming from the ABS brakes that were supposed to be repaired through the recall.

When traveling and upon making a gradual stop, consumer noticed complete brake failure, resulting in extended stopping distance. Consumer has contacted dealer, dealer has replaced three brake sensors. Currently, the brake problem still exists, there is an intermittent noise coming from the front wheel hub, and door closure is a problem. Owner is seeking repurchase of vehicle.
