problem #5

Oct 122005

Trooper 4WD 6-cyl

  • Automatic transmission
  • 36,000 miles
The contact stated 2001 Isuzu Trooper accelerated while in reverse, then he put the car in drive, it hesitated and surged forward while the brakes were applied. The vehicle left black marks in the driveway, went through the garage cans and through a fence in the backyard. All this time the brakes were being applied. Meanwhile, the vehicle still had a wide open throttle, and was spinning in the grass. Finally, the contact was able to turn off the ignition. There was damage to the yard and fence. The contact contacted Isuzu, and they said it was not suppose to do that. The car sustained $5400 worth of damage. No police report was taken.

Trooper 6-cyl

  • Automatic transmission
  • 13,586 miles
Unwanted acceleration - the vehicle accelerates spontaneously while driving and contine to accelarate or hold steady speed without depressing the accelerator causing the driver to have to continually depress the brake pedal in order to slow the vehicle. While trying to stop it will continue to rev and then suddenly rev down causing the vehicle to suddenly lurch down because of the pressure on the brake. The vehicle will start at normal RPM's and then surge when the vehicle is put in gear (forward or reverse). It has been to the dealer four times and the dealer cannot identify or repair the problem, twice in July of 2002, once in August of 2002, and most recently in July of 2003.
