The contact owns a 2000 Jaguar S-type. While driving 50 mph, the vehicle decelerated to 15 mph independently. The contact pulled the vehicle over and turned off the engine. Once restarted, the vehicle resumed normal operation. The failure recurred and the vehicle was taken to two independent mechanics who diagnosed that the drum on the transmission was faulty. The dealer and manufacturer were not contacted. The failure occurred in January of 2019 and the vehicle had not been repaired since. The failure mileage was 131,000. The VIN was unknown.

This is crazy I see all these complaints through the years about the 2000 S type jag all have the same problems.. why hasn't there been a recall I just recently experienced the same thing where I had to have my car towed when I first noticed it was right after I bought the car in 2012.now it's been almost going to 3 years and I'm having a this problem was not being able to shift into drive in a park position or even switch from reverse when I'm parked on the incline this is ridiculous, I can't even drive my car. Now with all the complaints that I've been reading about the Jaguar S-type it makes me feel like Jaguar not concerned about their safety issues while building such a prestigious and very expensive automobile there may concern was getting it out in the showroom to sell for thousands of dollars not including the expensive repairs that it takes to maintain a Jaguar.it seems to me the Jaguar dealerships be willing to stand behind their product as well as accommodate the safety issues that are clearly a defect on the many factors part because you wouldn't have that many people complaining on a forum about the same issue the same complaint.I do realize that my Jaguar is now 15 years old but it still has a whole lot of life in it I have a beautiful Jaguar. And I love it I love everything about it but this problem with the gear box shift truly need to be looked into please don't wait for a disaster to happen in these cars if the recall will require them spending millions is so be it because we as a consumer have worked hard in order to get the car of their dreams and that's the case for some people.you would think that to be dealers of a Jaguar with stand for some type of integrity and responsibility and be the first to recognize the problem.

I parked the car on a hill last week and couldnt get the car out of park. I had to have some buddies rock the car to get it out of park into reverse. The vehicle hasnt rode the same since. It doesnt go into drive as smoothly and the car also revs at higher rpms than average before switching into the next gear.

Parked on a slight incline at the bobops in estill, SC and the car would not come out of park, after a few tries, the gear floated and the shifter obviously had broken. This repair is going to run me 2200 dollars, Jaguar should cover the total cost of this as well as should have issued a recall for this problem years ago.

Complaint regarding services rendered by Jaguar of Tacoma. The consumer stated the vehicle would not come out of park easily. The dealer changed a cable, it then would come out of park, but not as smooth. The consumer then stated it almost became impossible for the gear to come out of park. When the consumer took the vehicle to the dealer, he was told there was a transmission problem that would cost $1300. The consumer was told the manufacturer was aware of the problem since 2002. (Jaguar S-type). The vehicle also had front end problems.
