The contact owns a 2001 Jaguar S-type. The contact was driving approximately 10 mph on normal road conditions. The driver traveled over a bump in the road and heard a loud rattling noise. The failure occurred at various speeds. The vehicle has not been repaired. NHTSA campaign id number 00V359002, suspension front control arm, lower ball joint is related to the failure; however, the VIN was excluded from the recall. In addition, the automated window regulators were replaced on the front driver, passenger and rear driver side of the vehicle. The contact had concerns of the safety risks involved. The failure mileage was 18,000 and the current mileage was 20,000.

Jaguar S-type. I have had three window regulators fail (front right & both rear) in less than 18 months, with the last two occurring within 60 days of each other. In searching the internet, I see many complaints from other S-type owners who have similar problems on this massive scale. I am an attorney, and this seems to be a recurring product defect such that a recall should occur or, at a minimum, Jaguar should be responsible. It has cost over $1200 to replace the three thus far.

I own a 2001 Jaguar S type. While attempting to lower the left front passenger window, it fell into the door and would not come out (it is power driven). I had to drive around for 3 days with the window down. I took it to the dealer and they told me it was a broken window regulator. They replaced the regulator since my vehice was still under warranty.

Upon pressing the window down button the window would make a high pitched screeching noise, and upon rolling the window down a few inches one frosted night it made a loud popping noise and refused to roll up or down after that. I have been told this will cost near $400 to fix, as the part must be ordered from the dealership (they say it's the regulator that's out)and it's very expensive, plus the cost of labor.
