The contact owns a 2005 Jaguar S-type. While the vehicle was parked in the driveway, the driver shifted into reverse and the vehicle experienced unexpected acceleration. The vehicle sped over a curb and crashed into a wooden deck. The passenger side wheel detached from the vehicle. A police report was filed. The passenger was injured, taken to the hospital via ambulance, treated, and discharged the same day. The police confiscated the license of the driver. The vehicle was towed to a body shop. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing or repairs. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 54,700.

The contact owns a 2005 Jaguar ST3. While idling at a stop light, with the his foot on the brake and the vehicle in drive, the consumer stated the vehicle spontaneously began accelerating. The contact had to place the vehicle into neutral to prevent it from moving. The risk of a serious crash was increased. He took the vehicle to the dealer, but they could not determine the cause of the failure and provide a remedy. The technician forwarded the case to the other engineers for further assessment.
