Cherokee Trail Hawk 3.2lV6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 1,500 miles

START STOP failure has caused a loss of 3-4 MPG on heavy traveled local road with multiple traffic stops. 12 MPG is the norm verses 17-18 MPG with minimum traffic stops. Start Stop consistently alarms then resets when Stopped and Resume driving to repeat the cycle. Taken in during 4-6 month warranty service with the same pre-diagnoses:

1. Battery requires deep charge: ....... .......... Performed with no solution. 2. Auxiliary battery needs attention: .............Auxiliary battery non existent on Trail Hawk. 3. Replace Battery: .................................. Twice with no solution. 4. Vehicle not driven often: ..........................5-6 x weekly and 2x weekly exceeding 60 mile Interstate. 5. Driver at fault: ...........................................sounds like Used Car legalism to me. 6. Dealer solution is for me to purchase a Gran Cherokee for only $15000 more 7. Attempts to contact Chrysler were only wasted efforts.
