Cherokee Limited 3.2 V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 100 miles

HARD SHIFTING, DELAYED FORWARD MOVEMENT WHEN HIT GAS. I HAVE TO WAIT UNTIL SPEED ODOMETER GOES TO 1 OR 0 AFTER SLOWING DOWN SO THERE IS NO HESITATION WHEN ACCELERATING. I ACTUALLY HAVE TO FEEL THE CAR DROP DOWN INTO FIRST GEAR BEFORE I CAN MOVE FORWARD. TRYING TO MERGE ONTO A HIGHWAY IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AS I ALMOST GET REAR ENDED SINCE I AM COMING TO ALMOST A STOP BEFORE MERGING. PEOPLE BEHIND ME LOVE ME...NOT!! HAD ONE SOFTWARE UPDATE AT DEALER WHICH DID NOT HELP. THEY TOLD ME I WOULD PROBABLY NEED A NEW TRANSMISSION.

Cherokee Latitude

  • Automatic transmission
  • 5,000 miles

I bought my 2015 Jeep Cherokee in July of 2015, I have had Jeeps int he past and love the brand. This jeep I started to have issues with the shifting of the transmission at 3000 miles and when I would take it in all they would say is that is the way it is supposed to shift, and if the engine light does not come on there is nothing that they can do. Finally I started to have an issue where it would do a slight stall when stepping on the gas about 5 or more sec, I took it in yet again and they did a firmware upgrade and for about 2 weeks was running good, starting now to feel it shifting differently again.

Just read all other complaints about Jeep Cherokee (2015)

Hard start in 1st gear since I bought the car. No fix that I'm aware of.

My wife Ford Explorer (2012) is a great car and will be my next (not Jeep, that for sure)

Cherokee Limited 3.2L

  • Manual transmission
  • 2,000 miles

Since the first day I pulled off the lot with my 2015 Jeep Cherokee, the transmission has acted strangely. It jerks and clunks (especially into reverse). the transmission is jerky and shift really hard - the first 3 gears are the worst. It's really, really awful to spend almost 40 grand on a car that doesn't act NEW. I bought NEW so I wouldn't have car problems. My car has been in 4 times now. Right now they have it for 3-4 days to TEST drive it to make it replicate what it's doing. (like my word isn't good enough - like all I have to do is take this car into make complaints on it, right?) I have so much more important things to do than complain about this car..... I'm sick of it.

Also, before it had 3,000 miles on it, it had to have a new axle. bad, bad bad..... I'm so disappointed in my new jeep. I should have gone back to Toyota. I don't know what I was thinking.... I never had ANY problems with my 2004 RAV4 that I had for 10 years. They're really good cars. so disappointed. and mad.

Cherokee Limited 4

  • Automatic transmission
  • 6,500 miles

On April 1, my family and I were headed 2 hours away for a weekend getaway. My 16 year old new driver was driving the vehicle and it bogged down and then jumped ahead while he was accelerating from 45 to 55. He was scared to death! It has happened to me numerous times, especially when accelerating from a stop light/sign. It is inevitable that I will have an accident, either rear-ending someone, or being rear ended.

Cherokee Latitude 3.2L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 1,200 miles

Several times while merging into traffic from an on ramp - I experienced 3-5 second delay before the transmission would actually engage and move forward. Very dangerous situation with oncoming vehicles.

Dealer's service dept attempted to correct problem using a black box but claims there is no problem with the transmission.

Cherokee ES 3.2L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 1,800 miles

My car has been back to the dealership four times. Each time they say nothing is wrong. It surges, and doesn't shift right, gas pedal sticks. Very discouraged. Calling Jeep tomorrow again. I'm out my time each time I take it back for them to tell me nothing is wrong. What has to happen before someone listens.

Dec 162015

Cherokee Trailhawk 3.2L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 10,500 miles

Vehicle exhibits a rolling stop condition (Jeep came up with the name) which happens between 1-3mph. Press on the accelerator rpms climb and vehicle does not move. Suddenly the transmission downshifts to first gear from third and squeals the tires propelling the truck forward. Jeep and Chrysler do not have a fix at this time. Looking at a buy back.

Update from Mar 18, 2016: Jeep has been in the shop six times for the same problem. Jeep has no fix. They literally left us hanging. We are going to court over this issue.

Nov 152014

Cherokee Trailhawk 3.2L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 10 miles

When accelerating after a stop (stop sign, speed bump, turn, merging into traffic), transmission seems to be working off of a rubber band and does not respond. Really have to over-accelerate for it to kick-in, then the car lurches forward. Once on the road and at a stable speed, it works OK.

Cherokee Limited 3.6L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 14,500 miles

The delayed shifting is VERY DANGEROUS! My wife was nearly hit by another car, because her cherokee had a delayed shift. She hit the accelerator and the engine just revved up, but wouldn't go until the shift was complete. It went in for service at the dealership, but came back with the same problem. STILL NOT FIXED.
