I purchased this vehicle in May of 2021. It has been in the shop twice since I got it. This time for the crankshaft sensor. When this started the vehicle would shut down while driving in traffic and then it was extremely difficult to restart. I took it to the dealership and they said the crankshaft sensor has to be replaced to the tune of 800 dollars. After doing some research, I found out that there had been a Safety Recall for this exact problem. So I called Chrysler and they told me because my VIN didn't fall under the recall there was nothing they could do. I asked them that clearly this is a continuous Safety issue. How is it that your vehicle stopping dead in traffic not a safety issue? Then after more research I was made aware that this is a continuous problem with the Jeep Compass. The dealer and Chrysler refuse to correct this problem, so if I get into an accident and god forbid hurt or kill myself or someone else, I want it on record that West Here Dodge of Orchard Park, NY and Chrysler refused to correct this problem.

I received a SAFETY RECALL letter, S89/NHTSA 16V-907 for my 2016 Jeep Compass. This is a safety recall notice and to date, 06/25/17, there isn't a single dealership that has parts to do this repair. My letter states: "We apologize for any inconvenience, but are sincerely concerned about your safety"! Are you kidding me? Being a 70 year old grandmother who drives my grandchildren to and from school, I have a lot of lives at risk riding in my car! How concerned can you be???? If you can only supple a dealership repair shop with 2 or 3 parts, you are not a bit concerned about our safety. I have been trying since December, 2016, to get my car taken care of and haven't had a bit of luck with anyone. Not only do they not respond to my request, Headquarters only wrote me when I complained to them, "You can take your car to Bloomfield Hills" (over 35 miles one way) and get it taken care of. With all the Chrysler dealers around my house, some within walking distance, why should I drive all that way? I gave up on Parkway Chrysler Jeep where I leased my car from. I have 5 different requests with them and still not a single response. They said they'll call when they get the part in. My last contact was May 8, 2017. I'll be honest, I retired with 25 years from G.M. and this is my first car in my 70 years that IS NOT A G.M. car AND FOR SURE WILL BE MY LAST! I just thought I'd step out of the box for a "change"! What a mistake. If I could turn my Jeep in now instead of 2 more years, I would do it in a heart beat. I'm just so disgusted with Chrysler, the dealership and everything else. I should have known there would be problems right from day one when Headquarters didn't send my "friend & family certificate" to the dealership. They had to call for it. Excuse was, "I overlooked the request date"!! Anyways, I feel better now that I let it out. The end of Chrysler products for me. Back to G.M. for life!
