Mar 272005

Grand Cherokee 6-cyl

  • Automatic transmission
  • 148,000 miles
The door latch is ripping out of the door frame. As a result, the door stays ajar while in motion. The cause has yet to be determined. The steel door frame tore where holes were drilled to mount the door latch. No rust was present. As of 4-07-05, the door latch completely tore out of the door frame and made the latch mechanism inoperable and the drivers door unlatchable.

On the left side the driver door and passenger door won't close. Dealer stated that latches had to be replaced. The driver side and left passenger side doors would or close. The dealer indicated that the latches needed to be replaced. The hatch became stuck which kept it from being opened at times and kept it from closing or latching tightly.
