transmission shifts hard transmission shifts hard transmission shifts hard

It will shift into first but struggles into second. When you down shift it doesn't shift down easily. It kinda shifts when it wants to but its a bit hard to explain. I always figured that it was just a normal Jeep thing but lets face it, the Bastard is a BRUTE. Solid and Sturdy. BUT, I have taken it to Albany on multiple occasions and never had the issue. It will get up and haul ass then suddenly its struggling to go over 50 mph.

Example:

I was working over nights for Target and on the way home it was 33 and foggy because it had rained all day. I had to be assisted because my exhaust system broke in half on the way back to Glens Falls. Its only about a 20 minute drive between both places and after the guy helped me out I started it up and went on my way. After getting down the road about 100 yards I was going about 48 mph and it started slipping. I hit the gas and it slipped again and again and again and AGAIN. I couldn't go over 50 mph! I was on a major highway so what could I do. So I gently let off the gas and drove 45 mph I was so angry that I threatened to turn the keys back to the dealership I got it from. But as I sat at a red light I thought to myself "Perhaps since I have owned it for 2 years the least I could do is just take the time and look into it." I found a ton of random garbage and useless information. It has been behaving as of late, but I noticed that on cold days (Less > 25 Degrees) in particular it has a hard time shifting into 2nd and 3rd gear and when it rains the transmission slips a bit. On the highway it will slip as well. mainly at speeds greater than 70mph. I don't go over 75. I don't run it hard or low on transmission fluid. I believe that the culprit is just that the Transmission is just getting a bit tired.

Honestly I wouldn't mind fixing it and just continuing to drive it. Its my first Jeep and Probably wont be my last. If anyone has an idea of what the hell is wrong with this thing... just let me know.
