I had a slow leak in my rear tires, so I went to get them plugged. I was told that the rims had rusted through the back tires and punctured the tires. I could not get into a Jeep dealership for two weeks so my mechanic ordered a new rim (Jeep part) and two new tires so that I could drive safely. Jeep refuses to accept responsibility based on the fact that I had my own mechanic replace the tires. I was told that I should have waited two weeks. However, I was not going to risk driving on a faulty rim and tires. I still have the rusted out rims and punctured tires that Jeep refuses to acknowledge.

Contact took vehicle to a dealership to have yearly maintenance done. The dealership told him the tires were dry rotted. Also, the chrome rims were corroded. The plating inside the rims was corroded. The consumer had the vehicle in the shop almost 10 times for repairs. The consumer argued that the power steering was out of order and she was unable to steer the vehicle in reverse. The vehicle had experienced other problems such as the drive pinion, heating pads, brake rotors, calipers, pads, power steering pump, the rear shock absorbers and rear sway bar links. The dealer was contacted about the problems no help was offered. It had appeared that there had been a recall issued for the Grand Cherokee built only from Nov 22- Dec 5 2000 for the power steering and the consumer missed it by a month, but the vehicle experienced the same problem as the recall that was issued. The consumer was very dissatisfied with the dealership. The vehicle also experienced three tire blowouts. The consumer was told the problem was caused by the gear box, there was a recall regarding the issue, however the consumers vehicle was not included in the recall. The front pinion seal leaked.
