The driver side seat heater gets so hot or feels like it's burning my legs.. I can only use it on low to prevent burns.. the passenger side does not work at all. (recall #09V117000) if the passenger side door is open, I cannot lock the doors, or put the windows up until it is shut. (recall #01V288000).. periodically when I start the Jeep the air bag light will stay on.. I have to pull over, turn the vehicle off, and repeat the process until it goes back off. (recall #12V527000)

Just had the eniter exaust system replaced due to the cats were plugged. Replaced cats and all O2 sensors with factory oem's and now the car give 3 different codes, P0141, P0138, P1499. After the codes showed up took back to shop and had to replace all the O2 senors again to the tune of $500 plus labor. And went to drive and get tested only to fail again, for bank 1 sensor 2 high voltage detected. Now shop is telling me there was a problem with the pmc and it needs to be replaced to the tune of another $450 plus labor.

I reported this problem a month or so ago about the front driver's seat breaking and breaking off the vehicle frame. Plus the A/C issue under the glove compartment overheats and melts the mechanism and continues to burn. When I reported the issue, no wreck was involved. Since reporting the problem, the vehicle was involved in an accident and totaled. My fix apparently allowed the seat to stay on the frame but the seat still broke. Fortunately, no serious injury, only sore neck and bump to the hand.

Driver's seat detaches from car frame. Electrical blower module resistor overheats, melts, and burns. Both issues are known by consumers and dealerships, so there is no way Jeep/Chrysler doesn't know about the design flaws and the danger. Driver's seat: There is a great deal of chatter on the internet regarding the driver's seat detachment from the car frame and the reason for it. People have created various fixes that may or may not work well. As added proof, it is impossible to find a Jeep Grand Cherokee driver's seat in any junk yard. Please go look for yourself. Mine totally broke while on the highway, nearly causing a wreck. It's terrible and I do not understand why there hasn't been a recall and someone held criminally liable for this. Blower motor module: Lots of chatter on the internet as well as to the problem and the cause. Mine melted and became so hot that I couldn't touch it without burning my hand - which I did. There is a fix, but you have to buy an upgrade module which still gets hot. Also, the module turns the blower in reverse, so you have to reverse the leads. It's dangerous and again, I don't understand why there hasn't been a recall on it either and someone held criminally liable.

Wires get hot that lead to the heater/ac fan. The insulation of wire and connector melts. This causes the heater to go off and back on intermittently and frequently unless you wiggle the wires. Wiggling the connector will help for short periods of time. This occurs when the car is running(does not have to be moving) and the blower is on. I have tried to press in the connector or wiggle the connector while driving and this is a distraction. This has happened consistently beginning about a month after I bought the car. The location of the connector is under the glove box area. There are many instances on the internet that discuss this issue.

Vehicle was in motion and kept stalling on highway and city streets. Another computer was installed but didn't solve the problem. The throttle position, idle air control, and map sensors were replaced. Vehicle had hard start problem and the fuel injectors and fuel filter were replaced. Started vehicle in driveway and heard popping noises and it automatically shut down. The coli pack had to be replaced. Numerous vacuum hoses have popped off during driving and had to be replaced. No error codes or check engine light would come on even though these things were happening. A year ago the oil pressure sending unit had to be replaced and has currently gone bad again. I have to put the truck in neutral and let it idle before I drive it or the transmission will jerk. I also have to let the truck stay cranked for 10-15 minutes before I can drive it because it takes that long for it to idle down. My driver seat controls will not work, and the passenger window will not stay up and the controls will not work. If you do research on the 2000-2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee models, you will find the exact same issues from everyone who has owned these specific years and models. Chrysler knows about the constant issues, yet the 2000-2004 models are not on the buy back list. The dealerships even have a problem trying to figure out what the problem is which is why it costs so much and the problems continue to exist. Owners have had to consult with other Jeep owners to work together to try to solve the problems ourselves. 2002 with only 115,000 miles on it. There would be more miles on it if problems would stop occurring with these vehicles and preventing people from driving. I put the date when it started in 2012, but constant problems are still continuing to this date and year of 2015.

While driving 70 mph South on interstate 5 in California my 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee that I've owned from new shut off without warning. The Jeep no longer recognized the key. This happened in moderate traffic around 10pm and was almost rearended by a tractor trailer that had to make an abrupt maneuver to avoid me. This was the same key that came with the car from the factory. The Jeep has 160,000 accident free miles and has always been maintained by Jeep. There are no open recalls on it and all other recalls have been completed.
