The contact owns a 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee. While driving at an unknown speed, the entire instrument panel illuminated and the engine stalled. The contact was able to maneuver to the emergency lane and shut off the vehicle. The contact was able to restart the engine, but the failure recurred. In addition, smoke appeared from the hood of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the radiator fractured and the engine failed. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 14V438000 (electrical system); however, the part needed for the repair was not available. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 190,000.
