Grand Cherokee Overland Hemi 5.7L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 88,000 miles

For one thing there are a lot of complaints about this and I want to know why this is not a recall? Obviously its a serious problem and happens a lot. Plus the fix is very expensive to which we do not have that kind of money. I'm talking about the heater quitting on the driver side then it started making groaning noises from the inner dash board. I'm sure its just a matter of time before the other side quits too and right before winter. Again this needs to be recalled and rethink this design!!! The air mixer door motor. just disgusted.

Grand Cherokee Laredo 3.6L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 30,000 miles

Heard loud clicking from dashboard upon starting. Went away after a few minutes, after which the heat stopped working on the passenger side. Determined from online forums that the blend door actuator was broken, so ordered one, and replaced it by removing the glove box. Opened up old actuator to see 2 shredded gears. I can only assume that somehow the actuator lost calibration and overran the gears. Seems a pretty poor design, as anybody with basic electrical engineering background could design an interlock to interrupt the calibration cycle with any large spike in current, thus preventing mechanical failure.

Grand Cherokee 3.6L

FIRST, MY PASSENGER SIDE HEAT WENT OUT AFTER HEARING A LOUD CALIBRATING SOUND COMING FROM THE INNER DASH CONSOLE AREA. NEXT, 2 WEEKS LATER THE SAME OCCURRENCE HAPPENED WITH MY DRIVER'S SIDE HEAT. NOW I AM LEFT WITH ONLY BLOWING COLD AIR AND IT IS 35 DEGREES. TAKING VEHICLE INTO DEALER TOMORROW.......WELCOME TO WINTER!

Update from Nov 3, 2014: JUST LEFT DEALER. $1082.00 + TAX TO REPLACE BLEND/MODE DOOR HOUSING. NO EASY FIX ACCORDING TO SERVICE GUYS. THE WHOLE DASH NEEDS TO BE REMOVED WHICH THEY CONCLUDED WAS A "RIDICULOUS DESIGN". HAS TO BE SPECIAL ORDERED AND WILL TAKE A DAY AND 1/2 TO REPAIR. THE PART IS $250.00 BASED ON RECEIPT. I HAVE READ UP ON THIS AND THERE ARE REPORTS OF THE SYMPTOMS AND REPAIRS. JUST ADD THIS TO THE 3 RECALLS I HAVE ALREADY.
