The contact owns a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that the vehicle was taken to the dealer after receiving notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V699000 (Engine and Engine Cooling) and the recall repair was performed. Shortly after the check engine light had illuminated. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer and was informed that the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) valve had failed. The contact was informed that the exhaust was leaking into the engine and seeping into the cabin of the vehicle. The contact was informed that the failure was related to the recall repair; however, the dealer was unable to provide another repair free of charge. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and opened a case regarding the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 235,000.
