This is a potentially FATALITY problem. Yesterday we ran out of gas. We needed to push the car off the road. THERE IS NO WAY TO PUT THE CAR INTO NEUTRAL GEAR IF THERE IS NO GAS because if the car is off or is in accessory mode, you cannot change the gear. it appears to be all computer driven. This car scares me to death! I called customer service, they had no solution and referred me to the dealer.

Update from Aug 21, 2014: should say 150m. not 1500mi. this started the day I drove home from the lot and is getting worse.

Routinely now refuses to shift out of first gear. the only way I can get it to change is to put it into sports mode then back into regular mode.

Recently the gear has twice popped into neutral while driving and refused to let me put it back into gear. this is a very dangerous situation. thank goodness I was going slowly at the time.

Update from Aug 21, 2014: My vet told me that three of his friends had the same problem and insisted on getting their transmission replaced. They reportedly were told that Chrysler was not going replace the transmission unless the owner insisted. Pardon me? A new car that cost $50k and this is only one of a dozen problems? I smell the Lemon Law. I am going to insist and will update this complaint aftwards

I've had this vehicle in for the transmission problem twice already and last time they fed me a bunch of crap that it had too much transmission fluid in there. The problem occurs more often when it's cold out

Grand Cherokee Limited 5.7L

While driving at a normal rate, every time while slowing down or coming to a stop the transmission starts to downshift very hard like somebody is manually downshifting for you. the rpm on the tachometer even jumps up every time it downshifts.it just seems like it go thru too many gears while driving. In and out all the time very annoying. but the downshifts are by far the worse. Been to the dealer twice on this matter and nothing has changed. 2 updates were added and still the same. I been seeing a lot of this issue over the internet lately, jeep more than likely knows of this issue and their just is not a fix for it. Maybe I should take it to the next level and start perusing the lemon law. Maybe jeep will get off their ass a look for a solution to fix this issue. Another thing if you battery is dead have fun getting your ride in neutral so it could be pushed, it cant because the transmission is electrically shifted and will be dead in park.

I have JGC 2014. There is a strong clunk when the transmission shifting down from 2nd to 1st on low speed (10 to 15 mph). My dealer had installed all the updates but without any success to solve the issue.

I think JEEP will never be able to solve it. It's an international problem, I have a friend working in Dubai, he is facing the same problem. The dealer there told him we have this problem in all our 6 cylinder JGC 2014 , just some people don't feel it.

Jeep don't want to admit

I would love to return the car even with $5000 less price since I have a strong feeling that JEEP will never solve this problem

There is a noticeable downshift when accelerating which makes the vehicle feel sluggish and feels like it's dragging along with a random bump in the transmission when gears are shifting and especially when the vehicle is coming to a stop. I was told that there was a meeting with the managers and Chrysler/Jeep has informed the dealers to expect this complaint because this is just something that the new transmissions are going to do. I did drive another vehicle that was identical to mine and sure enough, it had the same issues. How is this ok? I did not purchase a brand new vehicle to have the feel of a much older one and be told that these issues are normal with this new technology. They think I am supposed to be ok with this? What is my recourse? I want a new vehicle that behaves and performs like a new vehicle....period!

Grand Cherokee 3.6L

Shifts extremely hard when shifting between 1st - 3rd gear. Dealership has had it for several days and say that they can't find anything wrong with it and that I basically need to deal with it that it's just how it's going to drive. I would have never bought it had I known that this was considered "normal." I am ready to return it. Absolutely ridiculous that this would be considered OK!!

Grand Cherokee Limited 3.6L

  • Automatic transmission

Vehicle jerks on start up before putting in vehicle in gear, also very jerky shifting when slowing down and transmission is downshifting in lower gears especially when going from 3rd, to 2nd, then to first. Transmission clunks hard in this scenario. When up shifting from 1st to 2nd then 3rd transmission clunks also but not as bad as downshifting.

Grand Cherokee Limited 4.7L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 5,000 miles

108 miles all dashboard lights turned on while driving then jeep shuts off. lights turn on every 500 miles or so. I now have 5000 miles. transmission jerking, lagging & slipping took to dealer they said it had too much tranny fluid. I ask them to take jeep back they tell me to deal with lemon law. It happened again 700 miles then 1200 & so on... taken to dealer 5 times they say it needed updates. now they want to change throttle body & need corp. approval. roof rails were dented & have rust, window trim has rust spots. Radio stations do not come in clear very statically.

I had similar problems with my 06" jeep that they could never fix for 4 years @ 8 different dealers...it never got fixed & traded it in. I guess its my fault for wanting to buy American. Dealers & corporate was no help. im in process with a lawyer to use lemon law. lets c how that goes. we need wal- mart type warranties for vehicles' manufacturers should take back no questions asked.
