problem #1

Grand Cherokee Overland 3.6L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 10 miles

We have had our vehicle start and run several times (3) just by having the dongle in our pants pocket or purse and apparently leaning against something. Thankfully we were aware that it happened as it could have been in the garage running for hours and been a serious safety issue. On 7/29/16 my wife was leaving a meeting with a group of other people when she approached the car the lights came on and the engine started, she was astonished as the dongle was in her purse on her arm. In this instance we wonder if someone else had the same code or did she somehow activate it in her purse.

This is scary since you have to press the button twice to start the car. I suspect a bigger problem here. We have no idea how many times we have inadvertently unlocked the car.
