Grand Cherokee Limited V6

  • Automatic transmission

Battery ran down so all electrical things running finally quit by time tow truck came. He was knowledgeable so knew where to release transmission to put in neutral. Scared me silly as I just bought it four months before and was just getting ready to drive back to CA from Texas. Left me stuck for three additional days. Dealership in Del Río Texas were wonderful diagnosing and getting me on the road. I was not able to wait for new satellite radio control center but scheduled with my hometown dealer. That’s where the problem started - they dropped the ball and didn’t order then basic warranty expired.

All was fine then in June of 2018, I was driving in rush hour on a very busy highway when the vehicle shifted on its own to 4WD low at 75 mph! Horrible sound and feeling. I managed to nurse over to far right edge and get it in park to turn off engine without causing an accident - helpful drivers around me. Got started again and no further issue. Had Del Río Ram Country check it out again when went to Texas in September 2018. They performed recalls and regular maintenance- said still need the satellite system but would take too long before I had to leave. Planned on replacing this September 2019 by scheduling early. Then last night about an hour after I got home, put Jeep in garage, kids come in to tell me my radio is running! We had to disconnect battery cables to get turned off. Found out my 1 year old battery needs to be replaced!!!!

My thought to all of you with similar issues is - could something be draining the battery enough to cause these issues? I also wonder if the satellite radio which has multiple vehicle control features you can set is the true culprit. I am going to find out since I just discovered I have a rollover extended warranty, so I am getting that fixed. Will update later.
