it took 4 tows, 1 private mechanic and two dealerships to find out what was causing the jeep to burn up all ignition coils multiple times. The crank sensor has been replaced 3 times, countless ignition coils and spark plugs. A new PCM was installed-they were hoping that was causing the problem. Dealer said it was fixed. Picked it up-broke down on our way home. Had it towed to the second dealer. They started it said it was running fine. We told them to drive it for awhile. After driving it around, it was hooked up to their computer while it was running. The computer said it was running fine. Techs shut the Jeep off and took the key out of the ignition-it was still hooked up to the computer. The computer started showing that the Jeep was trying to start on its own. They decided that was the reason the Jeep was burning up all of the ignition coils. The dealership contacted Chrysler about this situation and said they have never heard of anyone else having this problem. Has this happened to anyone else that owns a 2003 jeep liberty sport? We are into $700 just in correcting this problem, definately not including all of the tow bills and all of the trial and error costs.
