wheel came off while driving wheel came off while driving

This must have happened to other people. My wife was damned lucky she wasnt hurt as it happened on a major highway with light dusting of snow on ground. My insurance said not covered as it is a mechanical issue but they said they would cover damaged that happened after. No idea what to do getting price of a fix but it isnt going to be cheap.THe rear wheel sheared off and she lost control and avoiding a major collision and was lucky she wasnt going any faster otherwise she would have rolled the jeep.

wheel came off while driving

My son was driving the Liberty on I-80 headed West for Christmas vacation.

Rear drivers tire, he felt a problem, started loosing control and finally lost full control. The Jeep rolled several times and came to a stop on the side of the road ,upside down. He was wearing his seatbelt and we are sure that is what saved his life.

After looking at the car, the 2 rear tires came off, the lug nuts were still on the rim, so it seems as if the tires were broken off the car some how.

The car will be a total loss.

Bring investigated by our insurance this week, Christmas week of 2016.

Time will tell what they determine the problem was.
