Many Jeep vehicles have gas blow back during refueling. This problem has existed for a number of years and Jeep has issued recalls. Please read the following: If each Jeep user spills.1 gallon during refueling and they refuel the Jeep 12 times per year they spill 1.2 gallons per year. This is a very low estimate. If there are 100,000 Jeeps experiencing this problem that is 120,000 gallons of gas per year. Does anyone at NHTSA care?

Fuel overflows & doesn't shut off when full! every time we put fuel into the car, it will not allow the pump to shut off when the tank becomes full-no matter how slow one fills the tank, it creates a fuel burp and pours gasoline out & down the vehicle. All of us, including our young driver, need to be extremely cautious when at a gas station. Very very unsafe could be very dangerous!

Almost every time I fill-up, there is a splash-back from the fuel filler opening. This apparently is a very common problem with the Liberty model among others. I spoke with the service department at the dealership and was told that I would need to pay for any repairs since there was no recall that would pay for it. I then contacted Chrysler who told me that my specific Liberty is not part of any recall or tsb so they cannot help. I believe this problem poses a hazard if the gas was to ignite. The most recent occurrence was on 26 February 2016.
