There should be a recall for these CVT transmissions, they are junk. I cannot go past 55 mph without it overheating. If I stay in town or drive below 55 or drive it on cool days I have no problem. Tried calling Chrysler and all they say is get it diagnosed, several people have had same problem. I had transmission serviced, fluid changed,filter, had new transmission thermostat,and even added a new transmission cooler, but still have same trouble. What can I do to get Chrysler to recall or acknowledge these tranny s are defective? I will never buy another vehicle that has a CVT transmission.

I bought the 2009 4x4 Patriot Sport with a lifetime power train and engine warranty. The Sport comes with the larger engine and an extra transmission cooler. The CVT transmission SUX! Jeep cautions that if you use this vehicle for sustained high speed driving at 70mph or faster and in high temperatures exceeding 90 degrees .... Seriously? I live in Texas. Afternoon temps in the summer are routinely over 100 degrees, and the Interstate speed limits are 80mph. There is no WAY I could drive the speed limit because this damn transmission overheats if I drive it over 70! I paid the dealer $400 to change the tranny fluid. That helped -- until summer arrived, and the transmission overheating started all over again. Jeep should do something about this damn CVT junk transmission!

I am the first and the only owner of the car and had problems (not issues), PROBLEMS from the day one. The technical manual is JOKE, my car never run as that book. If I ever had a power to lay off the engineers and technicians from JEEP, I will do it without any hesitation and I WILL LAY OFF THEM IN SAME WAY, THAT THEY WILL NOT BE QUALIFIED FOR UNEMPLOYED BENEFITS.
