We smelled something burning, turned off car and smoke was coming from my fan speed control knob. Turned the fan switch off, took a while for it to cool down. Took it to my mechanic, he said it is all melted behind the switch. He will be replacing it to the tune of 500 or 600 hundred dollars. Called GM Canada, no luck there, it is past warranty of course and no other suggestions to be had. Mechanic tells me that this a common problem with GM's, the high limit or something like that is not really made for Canadian Winters, not meant to be on high speed for to long, or it seems to have problems. Doesn't really make sense in Canadian winters, since that is what the fan speed setting seems to be on most of the time in winter.
