Wrangler X V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 124,000 miles

The shifter cable is of poor design and jeep has no fix other than this original design. Very inconvenient when you are in a private parking lot turning around knowing I would be towed. I opted for driving in reverse through downtown Fairhope, AL for two miles since I was stuck in reverse and take it home. Fortunately no police happened by to see this totally embarrassing situation. Then had to be without vehicle from Saturday until Tuesday. By the way this was the second time it failed.

Wrangler X 3.2L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 65,000 miles

2007 Jeep Wrangler X Unlimited (4 door). Automatic transmission shifter has on several occasion stopped working and I can shift from Park to Drive, etc. and nothing happens. Removed console cover and discovered the shifter has come disconnected from a cable arm. The cable arm slipped off a nipple on the shifter. Slid the arm back onto the shifter but this has happened several times in the last 6 months. This is my wife's car and it is not something she can fix herself and I have to come "rescue" her. Called Jeep dealership to see if there has been other similar reports or a recall yet on this and they said "no", of course.
