The contact owns a 2007 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that fuel spilled out from the filler neck while refueling. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for a diagnostic test. The technician stated that the check valve in fuel tank failed and would have to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 35,500. The consumer stated the failure happened four to five times over several times, while using the auto shut off at the pump or hand filling the tank. Gas spilled out of the filler area, down the side of the vehicle onto the consumer's shoes. It was determined the check valve in the fuel tank failed. Updated 04/18/12

Wrangler

The contact owns a 2009 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated while operating the windshield wipers, the motor failed. There was black smoke coming from under the dashboard upon failure. The contact made the necessary repairs to the windshield wiper motor at his own expense. He also stated the fuel tank was defective and took the vehicle to the dealer for diagnostic testing. The dealer advised the contact that the fuel tank skid plate would need to be replaced. The repair was not covered under warranty and there were no recalls for the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 10,000 and the approximate current mileage was 28,000.
