Wrangler Sahara

  • Automatic transmission
  • 100,000 miles

Hi all. I don’t log into anything usually but this is worth it. Today’s date is 18 Sept 20. My Wrangler had been stalling while stopped and shifting issues for YEARS! And no, no engine lights. A few years, and multiple trips to the dealership have yielded ZERO results. After much frustration, as the problem has gotten worse over the years, my Jeep stalled on me 41 times in one day, last week. Dealer kept it for a week, had multiple back and forths with Chrysler HQ “experts” and their only solution was to replace the transmission, torque converter, valve body, etc. costing me over $6K.

As much as I love my Jk, there’s no way I’m spending $6K on a $12K car, so I got a couple cash offers and prepared to sell, but before that I thought I would try replacing the Crankshaft Sensor. Bought the part and swapped them in my garage. Took 10 minutes.

I’m happy to report that after two days of intensive driving, my shifting is back to normal, it hasn’t stalled yet, and I’m keeping my 2012 JK! (For now).

Don’t let the dealerships fool you guys. The shifting problems and the random stalling at standstill are related! They just don’t know how to fix anything without engine codes telling them what to do!

I am definitely with the last poster. There needs to be a class-action suit here. I was hung out on the road stalled several times. So glad I found this site and solved my own problem.

TIPM Fuel Pump Relay failure is causing the Jeep to stall at idle intermittently, sometimes 3-5 times a day on a normal stop and go commute. Expensive to fix JUST outside of warranty. I was planning to trade in for a new Jeep model year, but I will not buy another Jeep product after seeing how common this issue is and how much it's costing owners.

Wrangler Limited V6

my jeep 2012 sahara has been losing power in the middle of driving since october 2017. I happens 1-2 x a month. I lose power and have to pray i get to the side of the road. No warning! After 3-7 minutes it starts right up like nothing happened. I have had to the dealership 4-5 times and they can't get any codes to appear. It's like nothing is wrong. It is very frustrating and can eventually be very dangerous. This is clearly not normal. I have an excellent warranty but if it doesn't act up and show codes I'm screwed every time.

Wrangler Unlimited Sport 3.6L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 73,000 miles

I was having hesitation when down shifting, lack of power, and dies once in a while while driving.

I replaced the Crankshaft position sensor (17$ with tax in PA). Easy swap, took 10 minutes. This was cheap enough to try it. Many online have now found the issue to not happen again after it is replaced. Now she runs better than ever. shifting is smooth and precise, no stalling, no hesitation on downshifting.. So far so great!

Jeep 2012 randomly has a jolt while driving. Back in February 2017, jeep had a really hard jolt and stalled out while going 60 mph on the interstate. Would not start back for 10 minutes or so. Drove with random jolts for next month and a half or so. Then, last week, wouldn't start in the drive way. Took to two different dealers both say they can't replicate the problem. Say it could be the TIPM, which is over $1100 fix and that this is really just a guess. What it really is, is total BS.

The vehicle routinely drops power from 100 rpms to as much as 500 rpms. If it is driving then it just shutters. If it is stopped at a light, it just stalls.
