Wrangler Rubicon 3.6L

  • Manual transmission
  • 80,000 miles

3.6 L Pentastar nightmare in a 2013 Jeep Rubicon.

85,000 easy miles on a 2013 Rubicon Jeep. Started clicking in June 2023 so I replaced the rocker arms. No more clicking for 7 months then it started again. Just over 100K miles on a Pentastar POS. Mechanic told me the time it would take to break down engine and have the valves replaced, rocker arms replaced and probably more, I'd be better buying a new engine at 10 -12 K!

I see the Pentastar law suit covered 2014 and newer engines but what about the year 2013?!

To have to do any work on a car before 100K miles is ridiculous. FCA has known about this problem and offered extended warranty for 2014 and newer. Not 2013. How can a major automaker allow these engines to be placed in Jeeps only to fail before 100K miles?

The way I look at it FCA owes me $10,000 for the replacement of my old Pentastar.

Next car: NOT A JEEP EVER. SUBARU! I'm telling every person I know in SOCAL about this issue and warning them against buying a Jeep since the FCA doesn't care at all.

Wrangler Unlimited 3.6L

  • Automatic transmission

The engine has developed "ticking" noise... I took it to a competent mechanic. He advises it is a rocker panel issue that is inherent issue in the 3.6 Pentastar engine. He has seen the issue before. Rick
