problem #1

Jul 142015

Wrangler Sport 3.6L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 1,796 miles

While in the process of moving items from my storage unit to my house one of the items in my front seat had shifted. It wasn't until the service engine light began to blink that I realized the item that had shifted was resting against the shifting knob and had downshifted my transmission from 5th gear to 1st while I was doing 45 - 50 MPH.

Now the transmission keeps going up to 3 - 4k before it shifts to the next gear.

I think this is a major design flaw. All of the other automatic vehicles with manual shift capabilities I have driven made the driver physically engage the manual shifting option. With the 2015 Jeep, all you have to do is accidentally bump the shifter when it is in the drive position to engage the manual shift mode; major design flaw.

Update from Aug 4, 2015: Dropped my vehicle off for them to look at the transmission. When letting the vehicle autoshift from 3 - 4 and 4 - 5, there is a burning smell. Also, the autoshifting seemed to get worst and rev higher.

Waiting on dealer to call with information about the problem.
