Wrangler JLU

  • Automatic transmission
  • 5,000 miles

Steering wheel freezes up at highway speed around curves. Very dangerous. It takes several tries and jerking it to get it to correct. Will take it to the dealership on 10/25.

2018 Jeep Wrangler JL Sport. My steering is locking up at any speed, mainly on the highway. Reported issues to Texas Dodge Amarillo Texas. Service advisor and technician got Jeep to duplicate issue, TD Amarillo told me it was a faulty module. They replaced module with no fix to the problem. Next TD Amarillo said Tech had found a broken ground wire in some harness and was not allowing the electrical portion of steering to work properly. They called and said part was on back order and would be there in (not positive) like 5 days. The part arrived and was installed, Jeep drove it approximately 30 to 40 miles and was determined to be fixed. My wife and I picked up Jeep on 11-19-2019.

Jeep was first dropped off on 10-28-2019. Drove Jeep as normal until 11-22-19 at 9:29 PM, approx. 3 miles north of Dumas Texas when I was going 82 miles an hour. I had to go to the left lane to pass in a curve. The steering locked up and I hit rumble strips, grass median and had to yank on steering wheel to prevent it from entering into ditch. Technicians were sent to my home to pickup Jeep and drive back to Texas Dodge for another attempt to fix. I have done my research and talked to other dealerships about issue, I have expressed my findings to TD Amarillo Texas but with no regards to follow up on what I have researched and no belief they will fix the issues. VERY PISSED OFF ABOUT JEEP AND TEXAS DODGE.

  • Manual transmission

I bought my Jeep last year. In the summer & spring, it is amazing to drive. But in the winter months, when the temperature gets down to around 35 degrees, the steering wheel locks. It feels just like someone is holding it and will not let you turn. It happens when I turn both directions, but more when I turn to the left. I have come very close to head on collisions with trees and vehicles. I've had to slam on the breaks to avoid contact. I mentioned this to the dealership. They stated that there hasn't been anything reported. It's like the the steering lines freeze. Something needs to be done!

Wrangler JLU

  • Automatic transmission
  • 4,500 miles

Got my JLU back from the dealership on 10/25. They reset the electronic power steering module to correct the issue. It's been good almost a week. The steering wheel froze up and wouldn't go around the curves at highway speeds. Will be taking it back to the dealership.
