Forte LV 3.2L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 58,200 miles

A car blasted through a stop sign at 70 MPH and hit me right at the front wheel and passenger compartment. I was the driver and can remember being moved from my seat to on the console tilted over so my head was even with the heater controls. I sustained many fractures of the pelvis, spine and sternum. Had a lacerated kidney and two sprained ankles. The seat belt was still around me but had not locked. It cut me around my lower abdomen.

The seat belt should have held me in my seat but it failed. Fortunately my passengers walked away with only minor injuries but I spent thirty five days in the hospital and skilled nursing center. My back had 11 fractures and the L4 and L5 discs were knocked out of place which required surgery. All together I had three surgeries and two procedures. Accident happened July 7th and it is now December 29th and I am still in pain. They say it will take a year to heal. I was is horrible, horrible pain for the first 6 weeks. I feel Kia seat belts are defective for side impacts and you can be ejected. Luckily, I did not hit the windshield but we believe my chest hit the steering wheel.
