Optima SX 2.0L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 95,000 miles

My car makes a clicking/ticking/knocking noise when I first start it after it's been sitting for several hours. After a few seconds, the noise goes away. I'm having no other issues with the car, and I already had the engine replaced in the recall about 2 years ago. Oil is changed regularly.

Optima LX 2.4L

  • CVT transmission

I have owned my 2013 Optima since November of 2017 and never had an issue with it. I was on my way back from a wedding and had just got my kids, next thing I know my car keeps shutting off. I get it started again and brought it to my work to park it and look at it. I have always done my PM's and when I checked the oil it was completely black in color. Brought it to the dealership the next day and was told the engine was gone and they would have to replace it. Luckily they said the motor is no cost to me and that they would pay for the motor and install.

Optima ES 2.4L

On 11/2015 I told the service technician about a knocking noise coming from my engine when I was dealing with my steering issues. I was told by the technicians, "we cannot fix what we cannot hear". They never checked my vehicle for the problem. Now here it is 2017 and we now have a recall for the issue I was dealing with back in 2015. This is a shame. For everyone that has a KIA Optima from 2011-2015 that has had as many problems as myself should be given a better and safer vehicle. I feel we are paying for a piece of junk......and no one cares about these issues. I was taken out of my car on 6/23/2017 for the engine recall. But the service technician sent me off the lot after my vehicle failed all the safety recall. I took it upon myself to call KIA Consumer Affairs and I was instructed that I was not supposed to leave the lot in the car because it was considered unsafe on the road. Had this problem been addressed back in 2015 I would have a safe car now..
