Optima

  • Automatic transmission
  • 57,000 miles

Engine light/oil light both popped on and car died. Towed to KIA dealership where they said the engine "failed" under a known issue. Replaced the engine but said I had to purchase a brand new alternator because the old one "was bad"...yada yada .... KIA do the right thing, I have been without my vehicle for 3 months...and have 3 kids...go figure.

Optima SXL

  • CVT transmission
  • 7,927 miles

I purchased a brand new KIA Optima XLS on 6/9/14 and just 3 months later on 9/20/14 the check engine light came on and the KIA dealership had to replace my cars computer system (brain of the car). I only had the car for a little over 3 months and 7,927 miles on the vehicle. I was shocked that a brand new, top of that specific line car had this MAJOR issue. I should have gotten out of the car at that point as I have since had another MAJOR issue 16 months later. I regret purchasing the vehicle and do not feel safe driving it. I will never purchase another KIA and have made sure to share this negative experience with friends, family, coworkers and social media etc. to ensure they don't make the same mistake purchasing a KIA as I did.
