Optima Hybrid 2.4L

I looked at this car that is for sale. It had the classic rod knock. The owner said the dealer said it had 2 bent rods. I have a 2013 Kia Optima so I thought this would be covered under the recall. I went to the dealer and they ran the VIN and it is not covered. The short block (which is the bottom of the engine that gets replaced) is the same as the regular 2.4l engine. The top end (fuel infection, etc.) is different. Kia should recall the hybrids too. The poor guy told me he had to take in his 4 grandkids last year and got a bigger car when this one died and parked it when the dealer said it would cost what it was worth to fix it. COME ON KIA this engine has the same problem because the bottom end is the same!

knocking sound and somthing broke in engine put a hole in

I JUST WANT TO LET EVERYONE KNOW THAT MY 2011 KIA OPTIMA HYBRID STARTED MAKING A KNOCKING SOUND AND THEN IT CUT OFF ON THE FREEWAY. AFTER HAVING TOWED THE CAR HOME I THEN TOWED IT TO A KIA DEALER IN SANTA ANA. THEY TOOK A LOOK AT THE CAR AND THEN I WAS TOLD I NEEDED TO PAY $7400 FOR A NEW ENGINE. THE MAN AT THE KIA DEALER TOLD ME SOMETHING BROKE IN THE ENGINE BUT THEY ARE NOT GOING TO LOOK FURTHER TO SEE WHAT EXACTLY CAUSED IT. IT MADE A WHOLE IN THE ENGINE. MY WARRENTY HAD JUST EXPIRED AND THEY ARE TELLING ME IT WAS A FREAK OF NATURE THAT CAUSE IT. I CAN'T EXCEPT A PRACTICALLY NEW CAR WITH EVERY MAINTENANCE DONE ON IT AND EVERY OIL CHANGE PERFORMED BY KIA DEALERS. THEY SHOULD STAND BEHIND THERE CARS IF IT IS SUPPOSE TO DRIVE UNTIL 100,000 MILE THEN IT SHOULD NOT JUST BREAK BY AND UNKNOWN CAUSE. I NEED OTHERS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM TO LET ME KNOW SO WE CAN PUT A STOP TO THIS.
