Optima Hybrid ES

  • Automatic transmission
  • 112,000 miles

Was driving my 2015 Kia Optima on highway, heard a knocking in engine then the car just stopped, had it towed to the dealership and was told the engine locked up and I had to get a new engine. Asked the reason the engine just locked up and was never given a good answer. The car had regular oil change and enough oil was in vehicle. The cost was extremely high, maybe because it was a hybrid.

Found out if my vehicle was a 2014 instead of a 2015 the repair cost would have been covered by Kia. The same thing happened to my friend 2013 Kia Optima and his engine was replaced free of charge. He heard a knocking in his engine and then the engine died. Made several attempt to Kia to see if they would reimburse me for the engine but no luck. Will never buy another Kia vehicle
