The contact owns a 2017 Kia Sedona. The contact stated that after starting the vehicle, the vehicle began to drive rough. There was white smoke coming from the exhaust and the check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local service center to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that cylinder #5 had failed. The vehicle was later taken to the local dealer who diagnosed the vehicle and determined that the fuel injector was faulty and had caused the Oxygen sensor to fail. The fuel injector, fuel rail, Oxygen sensor, and gasket were replaced, and the vehicle was fixed. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The VIN was not available. The failure mileage was 57,000.

The car stalled unexpectedly while driving on side roads and highway feeder roads. It first stalled as I approached a stop sign. The rpms quickly dropped from 2000+ to about 500. The car stalled. I put it in neutral and restarted the car. It turned over several times before restarting. After restarting and as I sat in drive at the stop sign, the car rocked back and forth as the engine pulsed. I left the stop sign and pulled into a highway feeder road. I got in traffic and slowed down. The car stalled again. Again, I restarted it in neutral. This time it re-engaged immediately. I pulled ahead in stop and go traffic where it very quickly stalled again. Again I restarted it in neutral where it took a few attempts to restart. I do have video of the tachometer and speedometer as I anticipated this happening. There are tell tale signs that it may happen soon such as sluggish acceleration, quick drop in rpms, and pulsed engine revving not a result of the drivers input. These stalls have happened 20+ times in the last year.

Upon starting the vehicle, a loud sound originated from under the hood, but would not become noticeable after driving it. No indicator light would come on. Two or three days after that began, the sound suddenly became quite loud while driving it, which prompted my husband to pull over. Thankfully we were exiting the interstate anyway. He checked under the hood and wasn-€™t able to locate a loose belt, which is what it sounded like. He restarted the vehicle and the loud noise continued, so we pulled into a parking lot to call a tow truck. Still, no indicator light came on to let us know anything was wrong. Our mechanic determined there was a rod bearing failure in the engine. Upon further research of this issue, Hyundai and Kia have issued many recalls for this same issue in other engines, but have not done so for Sedonas. One main hazard with this particular failure is the risk of fire.

Driving and van started decelerating while still pressing gas. Got off road. Turned off van. Smelled something burning. Called tow truck. Tried to re-start and won-€™t turn over. Mechanic said the fuel rails too low code and cylinder misfire. Engine is now damaged due hydraulic lock. Kia recalled 2011-2012 vans for defective fuel rail and possible fire. Will not assist as we are 2nd owners and don-€™t fall under warranty. It def could have caught on fire based on what I researched. Please advise.

Vehicle's engine seized while driving on the road. My mechanic I towed it to afterwards said that there was no oil in the engine. Engine was within KIA's recommended 7500 mile range between oil changes. No sign of oil leaking, and no warning lights came on before the incident to indicate there was a problem

I was driving my 2017 Sedona and it started making knocking noises and quit running. I then started it back up and it quit again and never restarted. No other lights came on and there was no warning, the car just stalled. I had it towed in and the mechanic stated that the engine has failed. I believe there were recalls on Kias engines and I feel like my Sedona should be covered because the engine has failed just like the Kias that have had extended warranties.

Engine turned off unexpectedly while driving. It has happened twice since owning the car (bought September 2021). Both instances occurred while I was slowing down into a turn. The first, I was slowing into a turn lane at a stop sign. The second, I was slowing into a turn through a green light. I was able, in both instances, to shift to neutral and restart while still moving. When the engine shuts off, the red engine light turns on, power steering is gone, but electrical stays

  • 65,000 miles
I purchased a 2017 Kia Sedona from a Kia dealer in queens, NY, in 2017 with 50 miles. I had an engine malfunction at around 65,000 while driving on a highway with a relative and my children on new year's eve 12/31/20. When I initially started the car, I heard a rattling sound, which I thought was due to the cold weather; however, as I drove off and drove further and approached the highway, the car started to decelerate. After the car decelerated, the car cut off while I was driving. In a panic, I started the car again and pulled over to the side. I had to repeat turning the car on, the car shutting off and decelerating, turning the car on, and driving ten miles to return home. The very next day, 1/1/2021 the car was towed to the dealership that handled my lease buyout. The service manager exhibited professionalism and offered exceptional services to ensure that I understood the repair process. He informed of charges that would be incurred if Kia did not cover the warranty. Kia will not honor the warranty. The service manager indicated that receipts were required to document oil changes performed on the 2017 Kia Sedona. Service receipts from Kia dealerships were provided; however, additional receipts were required. I contacted the Kia corporate customer service, the customer services representative exhibited professionalism and advised me to get receipts of oil purchases for any oil changes done outside of a service shop. Due to limitations in retrieving receipts within a certain timeframe, I am unable to produce additional receipts. I am without my car for one and a half months, I am renting a car while paying my monthly finance bill, and Kia will not honor my warranty because of a lack of receipts of oil changes, although the car was previously car serviced in November 2020 at a Kia dealership.

The van started to make a rattling noise from under the hood 09/30/2020. The check engine light came on the next day 10/01/2020. I called the dealership they said they didn't have available time slots and it was first come, first serve. Then the van seemed to be slipping(not catching gears) 10/04/2020. That evening 10/04/2020 as I was driving home on the highway 70mph the van shut off (as I was driving) I managed to try and steer the van to the side of the road. I tried to restart the van, but nothing(not even my flashers were working. I sat for 10 mins then tried again to start the van. It worked, however there was now a worse noise coming from under the hood. I was able to drive another 3 miles before it shut off again, mid motion 58 mph. Again I waited, after 23 mins I was able to start the van and try to get closer to the dealership. This is when the van blew up!!!! as I was driving again, shut off mid motion.this time however, there was smoke coming from the hood. I called a tow truck and our van is currently at the dealership where they are stating we've never done maintenance to our van. We have proof of oil changes from July 2020 and January 2020, September of 2019 and January of 2019. They are saying the motor need to be completely redone and that were not covered under the 100,000 power train warranty. Our van only has 68,000 something miles and it's a leased vehicle

My 2017 Kia Sedona shut off while in motion on a street. I had to put my car in park turn the key and then restart my car. This happens on 10/31/2019. Roughly 20 minutes later it happened again while on the highway. It was towed to the Kia service center and they could not replicate the issue. On 2/1/2020 my car shut off again while at a red light. On 2/25/2020 while the vehicle was in motion it shut off again. This time a car behind me had to swerve into the other lane in order not to slam in to me. On 2/26/2020 while driving my daughter to school it shut off again while in motion. The vehicle was towed to Kia service center. It is still currently there. They are stating they can't replicate the issue.
