Sorento LX V6

SUV began making a type of grinding sound, coming from rear. My husband thought it was because we needed new tires. So, ordered tires and had them installed. We asked the mechanic about the grinding sound. He told us that we should check with our dealer because the problem was probably covered in our warranty. So, we tried to make appt with dealer. It was over a week away. Then, my husband thought it might be better to just drive to the dealer and leave it there until they could check it out and get a rental car. We started to drive to the dealer (9 miles), but after a third of a mile, the noise became much worse.

We drive it back home. We went online -your site and a couple others, and determined that it was most likely the differential. So, we called back Kia and informed them that the car was undriveable. After monkeying around with their "World Wide Assistance" program, we got our car towed to the dealer for free. They checked it out the following morning, and informed us that it was the differential. Then they came up with a free loaner car for us to use, so we only had to pay for one day of car rental. Dealer has ordered the part and will let us know when it comes in.

One other thing. When we read about the differential problem, almost all the cars listed were 2014 Kia Sorentos. Ours is a 2017. So, we're wondering if the 2019's will be reliving the 2014 saga.
